Disruptive Technologies The Irish Government has called on innovators in areas such as AI, robotics, smart food production, and health and wellbeing to compete for a share of a new €500m Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund (DTIF). The first 27 projects have been revealed. Projects include lasers for the future, a cooperative energy trading platform, the future beyond food labelling, smart cardio, automated AI systems, blockchain in the technology supply chain and more. Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision Intel is looking to support the development of research into artificial intelligence and computer vision at a dedicated incubator programme based at the newly opened Talent Garden innovation space at DCU Alpha. The company is providing a structured programme of technical guidance and support under one roof. Innovation District Trinity College Dublin has unveiled plans for a new innovation district in Dublin near the Grand Canal Basin. It would involve a €1bn second campus for the university. Also space for startups, businesses, established companies as well as research, education and community facilities. The idea is to develop an innovation district similar to those already set up in cities like Boston, Toronto, Rotterdam and Barcelona.
